Empower needed to overturn misconceptions about apprenticeships to demonstrate that they provided excellent career prospects, in a wide variety of skilled vocations, for both sexes.
They wanted to produce a document for mailings and exhibition hand-outs, plus an exhibition stand, to appeal to the target audience of 16/17 year olds.
A funky, tactile piece of literature was designed, combining a matt-laminated card outer with a fold-out paper interior. With a slim, compact format which fitted easily into the pocket, it contained simple text spliced with dynamic images of young people captioned with the jobs, and salaries, they could achieve through apprenticeships. The exhibition stand was branded in the same way to reinforce the message.
"A good early test of the success of a campaign is to check the bins at the end of an exhibition. We found that virtually none of our literature had been discarded, which is a fantastic result."
